Why These Picks?

GS Warriors v LA Clippers: I haven’t loved the Warriors on the road for most of this season, but they played the Clippers just a few days ago in LA and managed to keep the final total within 5 points. In addition, despite him being on minutes restriction this evening, I have a really hard time justifying a wager against Steph Curry in a “do or die” situation. The Clippers are the better team, but I do think Golden State finds a way to keep the final score close. To boot,  the Warriors have covered a spread of +5.5 in 3 of their last 4 meetings with LA. I’ll take the visitors to cover.

ORL Magic v PHI 76ers: These two squads have alternated wins and losses over their last 5 meetings; and to be frank, I don’t love Joel Embiid’s absence for this game. Both teams have been unreliable at the best of times this season, but I think Paolo Banchero is going to have a really good game here. Having won 5 of their last 6, I won’t be at all surprised if Orlando pulls off the upset in this spot. My money’s on the Magic to cover.

Today was not kind, friends! In addition, the Rangers play far better hockey on the road than they do at home, and Daniil Tarasov’s last 5 straight starts have seen at least 7 goals (yes, he is confirmed for this evening…); I won’t be surprised if this game sees multiple goals in the first period. I’m on the Over to hit.

SJ Sharks v NSH Predators: These two squads faced off just last week and managed to put 9 goals in the bag. To be frank, I think tonight’s encounter will be very similar; as much as I love the Sharks on their own ice and the talent that they’re curating these days, they’ve lost 5 of their last 6 games on the road. I’m on the Over to cash and on the Predators to lock down a win in regulation.

COL Avalanche v EDM Oilers: The last 4 straight meetings between these two squads have seen at least 7, friends. And while history isn’t the only barometer for a high-scoring game, Edmonton’s goaltenders leave a lot to be desired these days. Despite not having a whole lot to prove or play for tonight, I expect the Avalanche to put at least 3 on the board this evening. On the other side, the Oilers should play a tough game considering they’re still going after the division title. I’m on the Over to hit.
