Why These Picks?

‍

PHI Phillies v CHI Cubs: I’ll be fading the Phillies until further notice, friends. Philly’s offense has been abysmal this last couple of weeks; to be frank, the only reason the Cubs RL is priced like this in my opinion is because Phillies starter Jesus Luzardo had one solid game on the road. If it’s a trap? So be it. The Cubs are far better offensively, and Shota Imanaga (2.45 ERA) has been a far better arm than Luzardo (7.94 ERA). Lastly, Philadelphia hasn’t scored more than 2 runs in any of their last 5 straight games. I know it’s bold, but I’ll happily roll the dice on Chicago to cover the RL at home today.

‍

HOU Astros v CLE Guardians: The Guardians have a steep pitching advantage in today’s matchup, friends – I won’t be surprised if they get to Ryan Weiss (6.75 ERA) early. While Cleveland took a sizeable loss yesterday, I expect them to clap back in spades with Parker Messick (1.05 ERA) on the mound. That said, the Astros have put at least 4 runs on the board in each of their last 4 games – I think they’ll become a decent contributor once the Guardians’ bullpen takes over. I’ve got both Cleveland to put at least 5 in the bag, and I’m on the Over to cash.

‍

PHI 76ers v BOS Celtics: No matter how you slice it, the Celtics are just the better team. The last 4 straight meetings between these two squads have seen 217 points or less; I just don’t think Philly has what it takes to keep up with Boston at this point, which should bode well for another low-scoring encounter. I’ve got a sprinkle on the Under to hit today.
