Why These Picks?

‍

PHI Phillies v ATL Braves: The Phillies finally got a win yesterday, friends – but today belongs to the Braves in my opinion. Chris Sale (2.79 ERA) is the better arm in today’s equation, and Atlanta’s offense has been far more consistent than Philadelphia’s. Philly starter Aaron Nola (5.06 ERA) has given up 14 hits & 8 runs over his last 2 starts, while Sale boasts a formidable 1.00 ERA at home and has given up just two runs across his last 2 outings. I’m on the Braves to cover the RL this afternoon.

‍

TB Lightning v MTL Canadiens: This series has been heated – and I love it! That said, I anticipate today’s game being an absolute battle for the ages in which goals will be hard to come by. 2 of the 3 games in this series so far have stayed below 6, I don’t doubt that today follows suit. I’m on the Under to cash.

‍

BOS Celtics v PHI 76ers: At the time of writing both Joel Embiid & Kelly Oubre Jr. are listed as GTD, but to be frank, I think Boston wins this matchup by a good margin regardless of whether they play or not. The Celtics will be back at full strength for this matchup, and while I appreciate that Philly was able to compete in 1 of the 3 games so far in this series, Boston has covered the spread in two of them. Ultimately, the Celtics are the better team – and I have a feeling they’ll make that incredibly obvious in today’s encounter. I’m on Boston to cover.

‍

LA Lakers v HOU Rockets: I have no idea how the Lakers keep getting cast as the underdog in this matchup. Los Angeles has won all 3 games in this series so far, and Kevin Durant is currently listed as questionable for Houston. The Lakers have made it clear that they’re “in it to win it” so to speak; and even if they take a loss tonight against what is now a desperate Rockets squad, it won’t be by more than a basket or two. It’s also worth nothing that Houston has actually lost 7 of their last 8 games against LA. If Durant winds up being ruled out, I won’t be surprised by a sweep. I’m on LA to cover the spread.
