Why These Picks?

WAS Nationals v PHI Phillies: Aaron Nola (5.61 ERA) is arguably the weakest link in the roster of Phillies starters, friends – I don’t doubt that Washington will bag more than a few runs off of him (truth be told, I think this is a great spot for an upset…) Andrew Alvarez (4.06 ERA) is the better arm in this matchup, and while I do think this game could find itself over 9 runs, I like the potential return on betting against Nola far better. I’m on the visitors to put at least 5 on the board.

STL Cardinals v NY Yankees: Michael McGreevy (3.57 ERA) should be wildly outgunned here – the man has had a number of rough starts lately. That said, the Yankees offense has been half asleep over the last couple weeks, and I can’t say I’m confident that they turn up enough to cash their own team total’s Over line. I say the Under cashes, and New York musters up enough strength to win by 2.

TB Rays v COL Rockies: I’m whole-heartedly on the Over here. Michael Lorenzen (6.54 ERA) has been atrocious at home, and Rays starter Ian Seymour (4.37 ERA) is very ‘hittable’ on the road. Both offenses should have enough fire power today to get this total to 12. Put your money on a high scoring affair.
