Why These Picks?

NY Mets v ATL Braves: I haven’t been a fan of Braves starter Grant Holmes (3.96 ERA) all season, friends. Though funnily enough, the man is coming off a great start (0 ERs across 5 IP) and Atlanta still managed to lose 5-0 to the San Francisco Giants. On the other side, 4 of Mets starter Christian Scott’s (3.20 ERA) last 5 outings have resulted in a victory for NY. It’s bold, but I think the Mets batting lineup will run all over Holmes relatively early. I’m on the visitors to pull off the upset this evening.

TB Rays v HOU Astros: It looks like the Rays offense has found their stride again having won their last 8 straight games; so hell, I’ll bite. Houston’s Spencer Arrighetti (4.00 ERA) has been kind of a let down in his last couple trips to the mound having allowed a ridiculous 14 runs across his last two starts, and Nick Martinez (2.66 ERA) has arguably been Tampa Bay’s best starter. My money’s on the Rays to put a road win in the bag, and I’ll put a sprinkle on the Under to cash.

SD Padres v LA Dodgers: Shohei Ohtani (1.58 ERA) on the mound will keep the Padres in check; that I don’t doubt. As for Padres starter Michael King (3.55 ERA), only 1 of his last 5 outings has actually seen 9+ runs. I like the Under to cash here, and the Dodgers to cover the RL.
