Why These Picks?

PHI Phillies v MIL Brewers: Between Aaron Nola (5.86 ERA) starting for Philly and the Brewers playing a bullpen game, I love the Over to cash here. To be frank, seeing Nola’s name on the schedule has my brain leaning towards a high-scoring affair more often than not – and in this case, both offenses are more than capable. The White Sox managed to get 5 runs past Nola in his last outing, I have to imagine that the Brewers do at least as much damage. My money’s on this game to see at least 9, friends.

TB Rays v LA Angels: I admit, I don’t love betting on the Angels – but the Rays offense has been atrocious for the most part, and Jose Soriano is one of LA’s more reliable starters. Griffin Jax (4.15 ERA) will start things off for Tampa Bay (they’re rolling with the bullpen), and he’s no stranger to pitching a full 5 innings. That said, 4 of his last 5 outings have resulted in a loss for the Rays; I’ll take the home team to bag a win.

CHI Cubs v SF Giants: As long as the Cubs can find their footing offensively, a win over the Giants here shouldn’t be a tough feat. Ben Brown has been solid allowing just 5 runs across his last 5 starts, and his last outing against San Francisco saw the Cubs bag a win. I’ll take Chicago to snag a victory and the Under to hit.
