Why These Picks?
HOU Astros v KC Royals: The Astros offense has been crushing it in Kansas City over the last couple days, and I’m in no rush to bet against Spencer Arrighetti (2.21 ERA). Arrighetti’s last 5 straight starts have resulted in a win for Houston, and while Royals starter Stephen Kolek (3.14 ERA) is also a beacon of consistency, the Royals’ batting lineup has been a far cry from reliable. I’m on the Astros today for a nice plus money return, and I've got a sprinkle on the Under to cash.
COL Rockies v Athletics: I have to admit, I love this play. Tomoyuki Sugano (4.08 ERA) is, believe it or not, one of Colorado’s better starters; 4 of his last 5 starts have resulted in a Rockies win. Despite the higher ERA, Sugano hasn’t allowed more than 3 runs in any of his last 5 outings. Meanwhile, Athletics starter Jeffrey Springs (4.68 ERA) has allowed 9 runs over his last 2 starts. I’m taking the Rockies to avoid the sweep today for a fat return, friends.
TB Rays v LA Angels: Between the Rays playing their bullpen and the Angels putting Grayson Rodriguez (8.10 ERA) on the mound, I think this game has the potential to go to the moon (despite Tampa’s struggles on offense lately). 4 of Rodriguez’s last 5 starts have cashed the Over with ease – hell, even his good outings wind up at the mercy of LA’s brutal string of Relief Pitchers. This is a real good spot for the Rays to rack up some runs, and the Angels should get more than a few past the Tampa bullpen. I’m on the Over to hit.
