Why These Picks?
STL Cardinals v KC Royals: I really like the way Stephen Kolek (2.68 ERA) pitches at home, friends. As for today’s visitors, St. Louis starter Dustin May (3.75 ERA) has had a couple of great outings as of late (0 ERs over his last 2 outings). Meanwhile, 4 of Kolek’s last 5 starts have resulted in a Kansas City victory. I’m going to toss a sprinkle on the Under to cash, and I’ll take the Royals to bag a win at home.
NY Mets v PHI Phillies: Not too long ago, David Peterson (5.91 ERA) was considered to be the Mets’ resident Ace; but the man just can’t seem to find “it” anymore. Peterson has allowed 9 runs over just his last 2 starts, there’s no doubt that Philly has the advantage here with Zack Wheeler (2.01 ERA) on the mound. Wheeler is a solid 3-0 at home and has allowed a mere 2 runs across his last 3 games in Philly…all of which resulted in a victory by at least two. I’ve gotta take the home squad to cover the RL here.
