Why These Picks

ā€

Florida v Georgia: Friends, you KNOW I love a good Gators Over pick…but not today. The Georgia Bulldogs have lost just one game so far this season, and they’ve held 6 of their last 7 opponents to less than 20 points (Auburn being the only exception at 27 points…) I think Florida is going to struggle against Georgia’s defense this afternoon. Take the Under to cash.

ā€

MIN Timberwolves v SA Spurs: This line is some wild disrespect in my opinion. I know Minnesota is on a back-to-back here and are without Anthony Edwards, but they’re coming off a 26-point win over the Clippers, Ā and haven’t lost by more than 6 in any of their games so far. The Timberwolves offense is incredibly capable, and the Spurs are coming off a win they struggled to get over the Utah Jazz. Now, I’ll level with you: San Antonio is rested and at home, but even under those circumstances I still don’t see Minnesota losing by double-digits, and I wouldn’t be surprised by an upset if I’m being really frank. I’ll happily take +12.5 this evening.

ā€

PHI 76ers v CHA Hornets: The Sixers are on a back-to-back, yes – but that lineup is more than capable of taking out the Hornets on their worst day in my opinion. I wouldn’t blame you if you took Philly to win outright, but I’ll go ahead and grab the cover.

ā€

PIT Penguins v MTL Canadiens: I’m betting on a high-scoring affair here simply because I think Montreal wins this game 5-2. Sportsbook is giving the Penguins a ton of credit in this spot and I’m not sure if they deserve it (lol). Canadiens goaltender Jacob Fowler (1.54 GAA) is 6-1 while Pittsburgh’s Sergei Murashov (3.50 GAA) is 0-3. Montreal to cover the PL seems like it should be obvious, but the book has it priced at a real nice +190 (naturally, I’m sus…) That said, the Penguins have only won 4 of their 13 games so far this season, so I’ll bite. I’m on the Over to hit, but I’ll also toss a sprinkle on that nice Montreal PL.

ā€

CAL Flames v COL Avalanche: A revenge pick? Perhaps. But, the Flames are playing on a back-to-back (with Dustin Wolf in net yet again…) in Colorado, and I think this will bode incredibly well for the Avalanche offense. In addition, the Over has cashed in Colorado’s last 4 straight games. I’ll take the Over to hit, as well as the Avs to put at least 5 in the bag.
