Why These Picks?

DET Tigers v MIN Twins: Friends, I’m going to give the Tigers a chance to redeem themselves here. Minnesota stater Connor Prielipp’s (5.55 ERA) last 5 straight outings have resulted in a Twins loss, and while Detroit’s Troy Melton (1.86 ERA) has had a few rough outings, he still hasn’t given up more than 3 runs in any of his last 5 games. To boot, the Tigers are coming off an embarrassing showing yesterday (final score 11-1…) and putting their Ace in the game will give their struggling offense a chance to clap back. I’ll toss a sprinkle on Detroit to win, as well as on the Over to cash.

SD Padres v CIN Reds: I like San Diego in this spot far more than I like Cincinnati. Padres starter Randy Vasquez (4.02 ERA) has been solid lately and 4 of his last 5 starts have equated to a San Diego win. Meanwhile, Reds starter Nick Lodolo has allowed 10 runs over just his lasts 2 starts. My money’s on the visitors to cover the RL this evening.

NY Yankees v LA Angels: The Yankees got absolutely humiliated yesterday, let’s not sugarcoat it. Losing to the Angels 10-1 is a very public shaming considering how terrible the LA bullpen is. That said, I fully expect them to correct yesterday’s mistakes today with Grayson Rodriguez (6.03 ERA) on the mound, who is sporting a whopping 7.78 ERA at home. I’m on New York to cover the RL.
