Why These Picks?
CIN Reds v STL Cardinals: Four of Brady Singer’s (6.18 ERA) last 5 starts have seen final totals of at least 10 runs, friends. If not for the formidable pitching show put on by Cincinnati’s opponents in Singer’s last outing, I don’t doubt that score would’ve met the same high-scoring standard as well. To boot, these squads played each other just a couple of weeks ago and both meetings cashed the Over. My money’s on this game total to fall North of 9.
SF Giants v CHI Cubs: I like the Cubs to bag a healthy win here. Giants starter Robbie Ray has been brutal on the road; the man is a dreaded 0-5 away from home with a 6.23 ERA. While I haven’t loved Chicago’s offense lately, I think this is a real good opportunity for them to turn up. I’m on the home team to cover the RL this afternoon.
TB Rays v MIA Marlins: The Rays have been abysmal; ABYSMAL! I don’t think I’ve ever started a write up that way, but the all caps was undoubtedly deserved. Tampa’s offense has been non-existent, and even their best pitchers can’t seem to save them from a loss. Ryan Gusto will take the mound for Miami; both of his starts have resulted in game totals of at least 10 and a win for the Marlins. I’ll happily take the Marlins to pull off the upset, and I’ll sprinkle the Over to cash.
