Why These Picks?

NY Knicks v BOS Celtics: The defense is just too good on both sides of the ball here for me to think the game will be a high-scoring one. The Knicks held the 76ers to just 106 points a few days ago, I don’t think Boston will get more than that past them. In addition, New York has won 7 of their last 10 meetings with the Celtics – I won’t be surprised if they bag a win outright here, but I’ll happily take the free basket. I’m on the Knicks to cover and the Under to cash.

MIN Timberwolves v ORL Magic: This might be the game to watch tonight. Both offenses look great coming into this season (each having cleared 125 points in their openers…), and I’d be lying if I said I don’t hope we get a high-scoring battle here. Orlando let the Atlanta Hawks get a staggering 132 points past them on their own court a couple of days ago; I think Minnesota comes out of this encounter on top. Take the Timberwolves to win, and the Over to cash.

TOR Raptors v WAS Wizards: While both of these squads managed to get 128+ points on the board during their first outings this season, Toronto’s defense looked damn-near unstoppable against the Bulls. The Raptors held Chicago to just 92 points while putting 135 in the bag; it’s tough to think they won’t cover here. On the other side, Washington’s offense looked good at home but still allowed the terrible Milwaukee Bucks (lol) to score 116 points. If the Bucks can get 116 past the Wizards’ defense, Toronto should bury this in my opinion. I’ve gotta take the visitors to cover this evening.
