Why These Picks?

DET Pistons v ORL Magic: 216.0 is too high a line for a defense as efficient as Detroit’s; especially under these circumstances. Both post-season meetings between these two squads fell under this projection; the last one struggling to even crack 200 points. My money’s on a low-scoring affair here.

NY Knicks v ATL Hawks: I love the Hawks at home, and I think they’re more than capable of winning this game outright. The Knicks are formidable on their own court, but I’ve struggled all season to think they’ll cover the spread on the road. NY is just 22-19 on the road compared to their 30-10 at home during the regular season. I’m on Atlanta to cover this evening.

CHI Cubs v LA Dodgers: The Cubs came back and stormed to victory last night with a worse pitcher than Colin Rea (3.00 ERA) on the mound; pricing them at +120 is a slap in the face in my opinion. The Dodgers are being spectacularly over-valued here, especially with Roki Sasaki (6.11 ERA) getting the start. While neither side has announced their lineup at the time of writing, I love the Cubs offense and Rea (who is 3-0, by the way…) to deliver. Take the Cubs to pull off the upset for a nice return.
