Why These Picks?
KC Royals v CIN Reds: Chase Burns (1.96 ERA) is easily one of the most reliable starters in MLB at the moment, and the Kansas City offense has been atrocious as of late. The Royals have lost 8 of their last 10 games, and if they were serious about winning this one, they wouldn’t be using their bullpen against Burns. Give me Cincinnati at home for all the marbles.
COL Rockies v LA Angels: The Angels undoubtedly have the pitching advantage in this matchup with Jose Soriano on the mound, but their bullpen is so unreliable that I can’t say that the Rockies won’t bag more than a few runs after the 5th inning. I’m not a huge fan of betting on the Angels, but they should be able to get to Kyle Freeland (8.08 ERA) early on; the man is 0-4 and every single one of his last 5 starts has gone over 8 runs. I’m on the Angels to cover the RL, and on the Over to cash.
