Why These Picks?
NY Mets v CIN Reds: I’m whole-heatedly on a high-scoring affair here. Mets starter Kodai Senga (9.00 ERA) is coming back from the IL, and I’ll be shocked if he’s not rusty (hell, at the best of times he’s not amazing…). On the other side, 4 of Brady Singer’s (5.61 ERA) last 5 starts have cashed the Over with ease. This game should be a total shoot out – take the Over to cash. And, as much as I don’t love Singer, he’s been decent as of late – I have to imagine he’ll fare better than a guy who’s been sitting on the IL for over a month. I’ll toss a sprinkle on Cincinnati to bag the win.
KC Royals v WAS Nationals: Michael Wacha’s (3.58 ERA) last 5 straight starts have resulted in a loss for Kansas City, friends. If that’s not an overwhelming, stat…I’m not sure what is. That said, I’m not a huge fan of a -140 ML, and Washington starter Foster Griffin (3.46 ERA) has only allowed 2 runs in 11 innings pitched. I’m on the Nationals to cover the RL for a nice plus money return.
BAL Orioles v SEA Mariners: This game total goes to 8 in my opinion. Seattle starter Logan Gilbert’s (3.60 ERA) last 3 straight starts have cashed the Over, and Orioles starter Brandon Young’s (3.04 ERA) last 5 straight outings have resulted in a Baltimore win and have seen at least 8 runs. With Gilbert pitching worse at home than he does on the road at the moment, the Over is a fairly safe wager here. My money’s on the Over to hit, and on Baltimore to bag a win.
