Why These Picks?

SD Padres v PHI Phillies: Walker Buehler (4.88 ERA) is better than his ERA suggests; Buehler hasn’t allowed more than 3 runs in any of his last 4 starts. That said, on paper, this game should be a cake walk for Philadelphia with Cristopher Sanchez (1.47 ERA) on the mound. Sanchez hasn’t allowed a single run over his last 5 starts (wtf?!), is 4-1, and each of those 4 victories was by at least 3. Comically, these two pitchers faced each other just recently on May 27th; Philly won 3-0. But the most overwhelming stat? The last 5 straight meetings between Philly and San Diego haven’t touched 8 runs. I’m on the Under to cash, and I've got a sprinkle on Philly to cover.

PIT Pirates v HOU Astros: Spencer Arrighetti has been pitching lights out, friends – the man is 3-0 at home with a 1.34 ERA, and while I love Paul Skenes (2.89 ERA), he has allowed a staggering 19 hits across his last 3 outings and the Pirates have actually lost his last 3 starts. All of that said, both of tonight’s starters have seen the Under hit in 4 of their last 5 games. I’ll put a sprinkle on a low-scoring affair, and I’m on Houston to get the win for a nice price.

NY Knicks v SA Spurs: 8 of the last 10 meetings between these two squads have made it to at least 219. Between both squads being fairly rested and it being Game 1, I think this opener could turn into a bit of a shootout. I’m on the Over to cash tonight.
