Why These Picks?
CIN Reds v ARI Diamondbacks: I’m going after the plus-money here, friends. While Rhett Lowder’s (5.17 ERA) starts have resulted in Cincinnati wins over the last bit, the man just allows too many runs for me to think the Reds can keep this close. In addition, Lowder is worse on the road than he is at home. On the other side, Diamondbacks starter Michael Soroka (2.93 ERA) has allowed a mere 2 runs over his last 3 outings, and is sporting a 1.88 ERA at home. I’m on Arizona to cover the RL this evening.
LA Angels v TEX Rangers: I admit, Ryan Johnson having a good couple outing makes this game a tough read. To boot, one of those aforementioned good outings was against the Texas Rangers back on August 11th. Not only did the Angels bag the win, but the total stayed low despite his now 6.41 ERA. Given that Texas’ last 6 straight games have cashed the Under, and not one of Cody Bradford’s (2.93 ERA) starts has seen final totals of more than 7, I’ve gotta roll with a low-scoring affair here. Take the Under to hit.
