Why These Picks?
PHI Phillies v BAL Orioles: Right now, the Phillies have Andrew Painter (7.06 ERA) listed to start this game in some places…and “TBD” listed in others. That said, if Philadelphia goes ahead with Painter on the road, I’m undoubtedly on the Orioles to bag a win. Baltimore starter Brandon Young (3.13 ERA) has had an impressive season at 8-2, while Painter is currently 0-3 on the road. To boot, 4 of Young’s last 5 starts have resulted in a win for the Orioles. My money’s on Baltimore to snag a victory this evening.
DET Tigers v Athletics: The Tigers have yet to name a starting pitcher, but if Jeffrey Springs is starting for the As, I don’t doubt Detroit’s offense will run up a score pretty quick. I also can’t imagine that the Tigers decide to use one of their good arms against Springs, in which case I like the As to put more than a few on the board. I’ll toss a sprinkle on the Over to cash.
