Why These Picks?
CIN Reds v SD Padres: Brady Singer’s (5.89 ERA) name on this has me betting on a high-scoring affair, friends. 4 of Singer’s last 5 games have all seen final totals of at least 13 runs – hell, even his last good outing with a mere 1 ER still saw the Cinci bullpen melt down. In addition, the Reds offence should be able to get a few past San Diego starter Michael King (3.41 ERA), who has allowed 13 runs across his last 3 starts. I’m on the Over to cash today.
LA Dodgers v PIT Pirates: To be frank, I just think the Dodgers batting lineup is far too effective for this game to stay low-scoring. Somehow Pittsburgh starter Jared Jones (4.82 ERA) is coming into this game with an abysmal Home ERA of 10.38 – and after watching him let the Minnesota Twins get 5 runs past him a couple weeks ago, I don’t doubt that LA will do at least as much damage. I’m on the Over to cash.
