Why These Picks?
LA Angels v DET Tigers: Detroit starter Jack Flaherty (5.94 ERA) is still looking for a logged win, and the Angels bullpen is atrocious. In addition, both of Grayson Rodriguez’s (10.61 ERA) starts this season have seen game totals of at least 11. The Over should have no issue cashing here; my money’s on a high-scoring affair.
MIN Twins v CHI White Sox: A bold play, I know – but starter Davis Martin is an impressive 3-0 at home, and 4 of his last 5 starts have resulted in a win for the White Sox by at least 2 runs (his last 5 straight starts have resulted in a Chicago victory…). Minnesota will play a bullpen game today, and I doubt Kendry Rojas will pitch more than 4 innings (he has yet to do so…) Lastly, the Twins have lost 2 of the 3 games so far in this series to the White Sox by at least 2. I’m tossing a sprinkle on the home squad to cover the RL for a nice return.
HOU Astros v TEX Rangers: Another bold take...but I just can't get behind Nathan Eovaldi (3.65 ERA). A good pitcher, yes – but the man has been the definition of inconsistent. After watching him get run over by the LA Angels, I've gotta put my money on Houston to pull off the upset. Astros starter Spencer Arrighetti (1.32 ERA) has been elite at 6-1, and Houston has won 5 of their last 6 games. Take the visitors to snag a victory.
