Why These Picks

Buffalo v Penn State: No doubt Penn State will have this victory in the bag. Buffalo hasn’t played a ranked team in nearly two years, and Penn State has allowed a mere 9 points in two games. Penn State didn’t allow Marshall to bag any points in their first game of the season, and Temple only managed a TD in the last two minutes of their encounter with the defensive juggernaut. It’s a big number, but I’ve gotta roll with the home team to cover.

MIL Brewers v BAL Orioles: Neither of today’s starters is solid enough for me to entertain a low-scoring affair, and the Brewers’ batting lineup is far too capable. Milwaukee starter Robert Gasser’s last 2 road games have seen at least 9 runs (despite both outings being victories for the Brewers), while Orioles arm Trevor Rogers is carrying around a home ERA of 4.01. I’m on the Over to hit here, but I’ll also take the visitors to win in this spot.

SEA Mariners v COL Rockies: Rockies starter Gabriel Hughes is 0-3 at home, 0-8 on the season, and he’s carrying around a rough 6.33 ERA. And to be frank, while I don’t love Seattle’s offense lately, I think Colorado’s batting lineup has a good chance to turn up against Bryce Miller (4.19 ERA). 4 of Miller’s last 5 starts have resulted in a loss for Seattle, and ever single one of those 5 outings has cashed the Over in spades. I’ll happily toss a sprinkle on this game to see at least 11 for plus money.
